What Do Angels Really Look Like?
This week is all about angels, plus a guided meditation to help you meet yours, weekly tarot and oracle guidance, and an extra New Year’s Day pull.
Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of people on TikTok, Instagram, and other social media posting these videos and pictures claiming to show “biblically accurate angels.” You know the ones, strange, otherworldly creatures with wings upon wings, spinning wheels, and eyes everywhere. And they say it like it’s some sort of mic-drop, “See? This is what angels really look like. Not the pretty little ones from church.”
But here’s the thing… most people don’t stop and ask: Where is this image even coming from? Is it literal? Symbolic? A vision? And do angels even have a fixed form in the first place?
Let’s take a step back and really talk about this, not from fear, not from dogma, but from curiosity and some good, old-fashioned critical thinking.
Most of these “scary angel” descriptions come from visionary texts in the Bible, like Ezekiel or Revelation. These weren’t normal, everyday moments. These were intense spiritual experiences where the writers were trying to describe something that went beyond what the human mind could grasp.
They used symbols, poetry, and metaphors because there weren’t words for what they were seeing.
So when someone says, “This is exactly what an angel looks like,” based on one of those visions, I have to say: you’re missing the point. These weren’t meant to be blueprints. They were meant to shake you awake.
Here’s something I’ve learned, both through spiritual practice and personal experience (including a near-death experience I won’t go into here): angels don’t really “look like” anything. They’re not limited to a shape. What I encountered was pure presence. Pure consciousness. Sometimes it looked like light, sometimes like nothing at all.
And that got me thinking: maybe angels don’t have a form until you give them one.
We’re all carrying mental images. If someone was raised to believe the devil is a grotesque, evil figure, and they come into contact with an intense energy they can’t explain, their mind might fill in the blanks, “This must be the devil.” The same goes for angels; if you were taught angels have wings and halos, your mind might show you that, even if that’s not what’s really there.
That’s not wrong, it’s just how perception works.
Let’s ground this a little. There are actually some great philosophical ideas that explain this.
Phenomenology says that we never experience things as they truly are; we experience them as they appear to us. So when someone sees an angel, they’re also seeing their own filter.
Constructivism reminds us that meaning is built in the mind, and what we see and how we understand it is shaped by culture, memory, emotion, and belief.
And religious texts are often symbolic. They weren’t trying to describe literal beings; they were pointing toward something greater.
So really, angels (and any spiritual being) aren’t tied to one look or one truth. They show up in ways we can handle, or ways that teach us something about ourselves.
I’m not saying don’t trust your experience, I’m saying look at it with fresh eyes.
If someone told you, “This is what an angel looks like,” ask where that idea came from. Ask what it’s based on: a text, a movie, a dream, a belief. Ask whether that image brings you fear or comfort, and why.
And then go a little deeper. Ask yourself, if this being had no form at all, how would I recognize it? What would its presence feel like? What would its energy say, without saying a word?
That’s where the real connection starts.
And no, you don’t need some dramatic spiritual experience to connect with something divine. You just need curiosity, openness, and the willingness to see beyond the surface.
So here are a few simple things to try:
Ask where your image comes from. Was it taught to you? Was it shown to you in movies or religion? Does it even feel true to you anymore?
Notice how you feel around certain energies. Fear? Comfort? Calm? That tells you more than appearance ever could.
Let go of the need for form. If you couldn’t “see” the being, how would you know it was there? How would you sense it?
Stay open. Your angel might show up as light. Or a breeze. Or a presence you just feel behind you. Trust that.
Don’t judge what comes up. If it shows up looking like a winged figure, great. If it’s an animal, or a color, or a thought, also great.
You’re not doing it wrong. You’re just meeting something that was never meant to be confined to one shape.
In a follow-up piece, I’ll share a guided meditation to help you meet your angel, not the one from a book or a meme, but the one that’s been with you all along, in the form you need.
We’ll drop into stillness, clear out what gets in the way, and see what shows up when you stop chasing an image and start listening for presence.
You might be surprised what you find, or rather, what finds you.

This Week’s Vibe
December 29, 2025 – January 4, 2026
The Energy This Week
This week sits in a true threshold. The calendar year closes, and a new one begins, but astrologically, we are still firmly in Capricorn season. Capricorn energy is steady, serious, and long range. It is less about celebration and more about direction.
The Moon moves through Virgo early in the week, encouraging reflection and clean up. Midweek it shifts into Libra, highlighting balance and emotional awareness. By the weekend, the Moon enters Scorpio, bringing depth and honesty as the first days of the new year settle in.
In plain terms, this is a week of transition. Emotions may run high, but clarity is forming. The focus is on what you want to carry forward and what you are ready to leave behind.

🎆 New Year’s Day, January 1
Sacred Power Reading Cards: Protection
The first day of the year carries protective energy. This is not about guarding against fear, but about honoring boundaries and safety.
Plain terms: begin the year by protecting your peace. You do not need to explain your limits.
New Year from a Cosmic Perspective
The New Year does not reset the sky. The planets continue their cycles, slow and steady. Capricorn season reminds us that real change happens through commitment, not resolution. Ancient cultures saw this time as a midpoint, not a beginning, a place to pause and assess direction.
This year begins quietly. That is a strength, not a flaw.
🎂 Birthday Note
December 29 – January 4
If your birthday is this week, your year ahead centers on emotional truth and steady rebuilding. You are learning what fulfillment really means and how to protect it.

Closing Note
